The best non-toxic cleansing balm: Beurre Céleste

Moss Beurre Céleste non-toxic cleansing balm + boxwalla card en face- felixinsideout

By now you know that I love a good balm. It’s my swan song. So, needless to say, I have tried my fair share since transitioning to green beauty. How hard can it be to find an excellent non-toxic cleansing balm? Well, ladies, the search is over.

If you’re looking for a 90% organic/wildcrafted, non-toxic cleansing balm, look no further than Moss Skincare’s Beurre Céleste cleansing balm.

This balm is the bomb. 😉

Let me introduce you to the last cleansing balm you’ll ever need to crack open.

Moss Skincare

Celestyna Brozek is a physicist who founded moss in 2015. The end. Ok, maybe not, but you guys know my science/research background. Reading all about the founder and the research that went into creating this line had me swooning. Moss stands for “Modern Organic Sacred Skincare,” and their mission is to deliver truly effective luxurious skincare, without any of the nonsense. (No toxins, no lies, no fillers). Well, I’ve only tried a few of their products, but I think they’ve done it.

Two things make Moss Skincare stand out above the crowd, in my opinion. First is their use of botanical hydrosols instead of water as the basis for their formulations. Botanical hydrosols contain the healing properties of plants, but have a pH more suitable for the skin, eliminating the need for harsh pH adjusters. Second is their research backed ingredient formulations; specifically, as it pertains to the use of active ingredients.

[At Moss] our active ingredients are added at the same percentage as used in studies that demonstrated profound results. So if Vitamin C has been clinically shown to decrease acne by 60% in a study at 5%, we include Vitamin C at 5%.

This means you can be confident that if you’re using a Moss product, you’re getting the most efficacious formulation available. I.e., expect results!

Beurre Céleste cleansing balm

The first thing you’ll notice when you open this decadent little pot is this faint scent of raw Nebraskan honey and lemon myrtle. Sometimes I open the jar just to give it a smell. Kidding! … or am I? Next, you will notice the beautiful yellow hue; it’s happiness in a jar. Then you’ll scoop a bit out of the pot, and it will melt beautifully onto your skin, cleansing without residue, and leaving behind only a nicely hydrated plump face. And they lived happily ever after.

If you think I’m gushing too much over this balm, just know that “Beurre Céleste” means “heavenly butter’ and omg is it ever. This honey-infused cleansing balm rinses clean with water. Yes, you read that right, it rinses clean. No washcloth needed. It’s filled with antioxidant-rich botanicals courtesy of the unrefined Kokum butter and Sea Buckthorn CO2 extract. This balm not only deeply cleanses skin, but it also helps to neutralize free radicals.

I love that Celestyna, the creator of Moss Skincare, used principles of Ayurveda in the creation of this gem. Kokum butter is a commonly used Ayurvedic ingredient; used to treat and nourish the skin because it is highly antioxidant-rich and anti-inflammatory. Sea Buckthorn is rich in vitamins A, C, and E. All excellent for cellular turnover and fighting free radicals. So, in addition to being an exquisite product to use, Beurre Céleste also delivers on quality and effectiveness.

Another thing I love about Beurre Céleste is that raw honey and the oil emulsion work together to exfoliate the skin gently. Take about a dime sized amount, massage it into your dry skin for 30-60 seconds, and then rinse away the day. This balm will leave your skin feeling smooth, bright, and nourished. Perfection!

If you are not tripping over yourself to add Beurre Céleste to your beauty cabinet yet, then I’m afraid you haven’t been paying attention. This little pot of honey gold isn’t cheap ($70), but a little goes a long way, and I promise you, once you’ve tried it, you’ll be a true believer. [✨Holy Grail status.✨]

Boxwalla

I discovered this non-toxic cleansing balm ($70), as well as the Moss Skincare Illumina Vitamin C Perfecting Treatment Intensif ($145) through my Boxwalla Beauty Subscription for the ridiculously low price of $49.95! Every other month Boxwalla delivers super luxe green beauty brands, often new to me, at a bargain. I love Boxwalla and couldn’t recommend it highly enough. If you’re looking to add some seriously luxurious skincare items to your beauty cabinet, Boxwalla is where it’s at.

And if you’re asking if I’ll be re-purchasing Beurre Céleste at full price, the answer is: I already have. 💚
