Oh Hey there! Can you believe it’s already July?!? If it weren’t for the July Art of Organics box dropping and the 4th of July festivities, I might have missed it. July always has a way of sneaking up on me. Something about the lazy summer days causes me to lose track of time. Y’all, we are halfway through this year, so I just did a little check in with the goals I set back in January. Now I’m feeling highly motivated to pick up the pace towards that long list of lofty goals. Join me in my resurgence of motivation. Let’s crush the second half of 2018 together.
But before I lose myself in more goal setting and planning, let me sip in these next two months of summer. It’s the 5th of the month, and you know what that means; Art of Organics drops its monthly clean beauty subscription box and this one, like always, is a delight. This month’s theme, Illuminate, is perfect for the heart of summer. The featured artwork this month is from Juliet Meeks, a New Orleans based artist who creates vibrant watercolor patterns inspired by nature. The sweet hues are quintessential summer, and this print makes me want to get outside and enjoy the bounty of the season.
So let’s get into the two products that have me positively swooning this month.
July Art of Organics x Illuminate
This month’s Clean Beauty Box by Art of Organics is themed ILLUMINATE, and it’s all about helping you achieve that lit from within glow. For those of you like me who have trouble letting go of face oils, even in the heat of summer, this Leahlani Moisturizer is for you. The au Naturale highlighter is an equally brilliant addition; it’s an absolute stunner. This box, which includes two full-size products, is an $81 value and only costs you $39 with a subscription. Holler!
BTW- Leahlani Skincare is a Green Beauty Cult Fave, with this incredible value I expect this box to sell out quickly, so if you’re interested you better get it before its gone. Subscribe Here.
Leahlani Skincare Aloha Ambrosia
I know, I know. I’m one of the few green beauty enthusiasts who hasn’t tried Leahlani Skincare, and after this introduction to the line, I can see why it’s a cult favorite. Leahlani is a Hawaiian skincare line that is all about the aloha vibe, using Hawaiian nectars and potent botanical ingredients. This month Art of Organics shares Leahlani Skincare’s Aloha Ambrosia “Morning Moisture Elixir” ($56), and I can’t get enough. Here’s why this juicy little number has been on repeat: made with olive squalane, acerola cherry, and maracuja passion flower oil, among other things, this elixir tones, brightens and balances skin.
This elixir is feather light, potent, and absorbs into the skin effortlessly. It also happens to smell phenomenal, with notes of jasmine, guava, passionfruit, and mangosteen. I’ve been using it as my moisturizer (final product) on days that I don’t plan to leave the house, and it wears nicely under sunscreen or makeup on days when I’m off on summer adventures.
Now that I’ve got one Leahlani product in my beauty arsenal I’m on the hunt for others to add. Have you tried this brand? What should I try next?
au NATURALE Pure Powder Highlighter
au Naturale is an oldie but a goodie. They are one of the cleanest makeup brands on the green beauty scene, and I’ve been excited to see how they expand their line to include more shades and colors that compliment more skin tones. The Pure Powder Highlighter in Begonia, their bestselling shade, is absolutely gorgeous. It’s an on-trend coppery rose gold-hued highlighter that creates a beautiful glow. This super clean product only has three ingredients: iron oxide, zinc oxide, and super finely milled mica.
I liked that this fine powder was really versatile, it could be used dry, or with a damp beauty blender for a more dewy glow, and it was buildable AF. Use a brush for a more subtle application, or your fingers to layer on more densely. I’ve worn in the typical highlighter places, cheekbones, brow bones, and the bridge of my nose. But I also loved it as an eyeshadow and on my collarbones.
Be sure to shake it up and spray directly onto a brush or the back of your hand for more control. It comes out as a powdery mist, so if you mist it directly onto your face you’re going to be strobing; which is fine, if that’s what you’re into. ✨
Dying to try it out?
As you know, I always recommend subscription boxes as an excellent way to explore green beauty brands with ease. There really isn’t a better way to build your collection. It also doesn’t hurt that a subscription box offers a steep discount, all with the assurance that ingredients will be up to snuff.
This month’s Art of Organics box is the best of both worlds, featuring the beautiful Leahlani Elixir and au Naturale; you really can’t go wrong. With a value of $81, it’s a steal.
Get Yours Here and be sure to tell me what you think. I’d love to hear. Art of Organics has an initial subscription commitment of two months, but after that, you can cancel at any time. Membership also comes with a 15% discount to their online store.
